Artist's Step By Step Guide to Art Visit

Frequently Asked Questions

Visitor's FAQ

Artist didn't provide me with an address.

Please contact us at +1 (415) 233-1665. We will help you locate the artist's studio and make sure the artist is ready for your Art Visit at the booked time. If we can't get ahold of the artist in 48 hours, we will refund your booking.

Artist tried to harass me with his intense looks, is there a way to report him?

Try to reconsider the intensity of the looks. Some artists view the world with different eyes, that might seem to someone intense or even creepy. It's how artists observe the world that they depict during the creative process. Be flattered about being an inspiration or a muse. In case of any physical or verbal harassment please report to our emergency hotline +1 (415) 233-1665 and to your local authorities.

I found the studio but the artist was not present for the booked time.

Be patient. If the artist doesn't show up contact us at +1 (415) 233-1665. We will try to schedule an ad-hoc Art Visit with a comparable artist in the nearby area.

The artist only talked about himself. He didn't explain his methods in a broader context.

We guarantee the quality of the artist and the artwork they are making. It is hard to screen every artist in depth. Artists often present a unique lens to world in which we live. Do not try to understand them, find a way to appreciate all the oddities and character nuances. How often are you in the presence of someone creative? Try to get the broader context by looking at the reality through the artist's eyes. We celebrate artists for their unique point of view.

I didn't like the art. I can do something like that.

Art is subjective. You don't have to like everything. There are trendy styles that imitate child drawings and amateur art. Anybody can be an artist and anything can be art. If you have a hard time approaching the artwork, ask the artist about their background or motivation. Ask about the history of their style.

Images were overpriced.

The pricing of artwork is a sensitive topic. We support underrepresented artists in their early carriers and guarantee their artwork is reasonably priced.

Artist was drunk or high on drugs. Do I report them?

Please use your best judgement. Some drugs are legal in across different counties in California. We discourage artists from using drugs during Art Visit. Report all suspicious behaviour to your local authorities.

I didn't account for traffic and for artist's studio being so distant. I arrived one hour late and artist refused to give me a tour of his studio.

We are sorry about this situation, but it's your fault. The best way to fix this situation is to create a new booking and apologise to the artist on your next visit. Please plan for traffic and parking.

I have buyer's remorse. Can I return purchased artwork to the artist if I no longer like it?

We are sorry that you changed your mind about your artwork. We can help with any returns, please contact us at +1 (415) 233-1665. We will contact the artist and see if you can exchange your artwork for an another piece. Artist are often flexible and this not an uncommon request, yet it's not an artist's obligation. If the artist refuses to swap or doesn't have more artworks in a similar price range, we can help you resell the artwork. When purchasing new artwork think about your financial options. There might be a cheaper artwork of similar qualities. Avoid awkward moments by considering the size of an artwork and space, also where you want to put it in your home.

The artist was rude. He didn't want to explain the concept of his artwork. He said there is no meaning in his art! Is this normal?

Every artist has a different creative method. Some artists make conceptual art with intricate narratives and complex meanings. Others splash color on canvas with no rational sense.

Artist was secretive about his trademark techniques. He felt offended when I asked about the details.

Some artists are very protective about their craft. They experiment with new colors, special techniques, custom brushes or new materials. Please be sensitive to artists' crafts and discoveries. You might see them as ordinary, but artists hone little tricks and secrets. Ask about the concept behind the art, the inspiration, or the artist's own life and career.
