Artist Britta Kathmeyer lives and works in Sonoma County, California.
Britta Kathmeyer, born in Germany, 1963, is a visual artist residing in Sonoma County. She received a Diploma in Textile Design from the College of Art and Design, Hannover, Germany, in 1988, and continued her studies on a Fulbright scholarship in the US graduating with an MFA with High Distinction from the California College of the Arts, Oakland, in 1991. She later immersed herself in studies of Eastern and Western bodywork and yoga, both of which had a profound influence on her art making process.
Britta has exhibited her work in galleries in both Germany and the U.S. She has collaborated on various projects with artists and non-artists alike, including a public art project funded by the San Francisco Arts Commission Cultural Equity Grant in 2002. From 1994 to 1997 she was an Affiliate Artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts. She was a senior lecturer at CCA and a member of the Independent Study Faculty at JFK University and has been a visiting artist giving lectures and presentations at the San Francisco Art Institute, CCA, JFK University, and the Headlands Center for the Arts.
