I started my rigorous art training at the Art Students’ League of New York, an art academy with a long tradition, and continued at the Lyme Academy of Fine Art. My first interest were portraits. After several years of portrait practice two fellow artists and I ventured on a plein air landscape painting trip to Nova Scotia, where I fell in love with plein air landscape painting.

I paint outdoors in nature - capturing the moment while everything keeps changing - the clouds moving, waves crashing against rocks, shadows lengthening. When the tide comes in, I move my easel to a dry spot. It’s a one-time adventure every time - fixed onto my canvas with my brush. I use only pure fine art oil paints on oil primed canvas or oil primed wood - materials which have been used for centuries and have proven to endure for centuries.
